How NEEDS works
We make it easier for good food to reach people who need it.
NEEDS brings together food businesses with safe extra food, community organizations ready to receive it, volunteers who help move it, and supporters who fund the work.
The bridge
A donation is more than a yes.
When a business has food to share, someone still has to confirm the fit, find a receiving partner, arrange the handoff, move the food, and keep everyone informed. NEEDS coordinates those steps so one partner does not have to solve the whole problem alone.
1. Find the opportunity
We listen to food businesses about what they have, when it is available, and what their staff can realistically hand off.
2. Confirm the match
We work with community organizations to understand what they can safely receive, when they can receive it, and who is responsible on their side.
3. Move the food
We coordinate pickup and delivery through a practical route, with attention to timing, handling, storage, and the people involved.
4. Keep a record
We document the source, date, category, receiving partner, and next step so the route can improve and partners can trust what happened.
